- Does KidPlayMoney move real money?
- No. Nothing connects to a bank, card or brokerage. It is a shared ledger that keeps track of the allowance you already give in real life.
- Are the stock prices real?
- Yes, they come from public market data and are delayed by up to 15 minutes. Trades are pretend, but the price movements are real, which is what makes it a good lesson.
- How do kids sign in without a password?
- Each kid gets a magic link (and QR code) that keeps them signed in on their device, or they can enter the grownup's email plus a 4-digit family PIN and tap their name.
- Is the kid side secure?
- Intentionally not very. There is no real money to protect, so we optimized for a 6-year-old being able to get in. Grownup accounts use normal email/password or Google sign-in.
- When does allowance get paid?
- Every morning the app checks who is due. Weekly and biweekly allowances land on the weekday you choose; monthly on the day of the month you choose.
- How is interest calculated?
- By default, daily: the cash balance earns your yearly rate divided by 365 every day, and each whole penny is posted the moment it's earned. Fractions of a cent carry over, so small balances still get there, and kids see a live countdown to their next penny. You can switch to one rounded payment a week (Mondays) or a month (the 1st) instead. The cap you set applies per month for daily interest and per payment otherwise.
- What happens if my kid misses a required chore?
- In all-or-nothing mode the allowance for that period is skipped and a note appears in their history explaining which chores were missed. In extra-only mode chores never block allowance.
- Can I fix a mistake?
- Yes. Grownups can add or remove any amount with a note at any time, and can turn investing or chores off per kid.
- Can I have more than one kid?
- As many as you like. Kids can switch between siblings from the kid screen.
- Is there an app in the App Store?
- Not yet. KidPlayMoney is built for phones and installs to your home screen from the browser (Share, then Add to Home Screen on iPhone).
